This story is not a reflection of me, but a story to be shared with you!
Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. When I arrived at 2:30 am, the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute", answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware. "Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated". "Oh, you're such a good boy", she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?" "It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly. "Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice". I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. "I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don’t have very long." I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like me to take?" I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now." We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up.
They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. "How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse. "Nothing," I said. "You have to make a living," she answered. "There are other passengers," I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly. "You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you." I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

Is email too boring and blogging too tedious?
Bring in Zimos. A start-up that is based in San Carlos, CA. USA and Mumbai, India that lets you share rich content with your friends on the fly!
Wait isn’t that what blogs are supposed to be for?
Yes, blogs do allow you to share content with your friends and so does email, but not everyone has the time to maintain blogs and emails are not rich enough. Zimos is going for a niche market where users who want to share rich content with their friends with minimal time and effort needed to create it.Why Zimos? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently they were not happy with a previous name that they had picked so they decided that their pet frogs name Zimos will do just fine. Interesting name that…
Okay, now to the website and the service itself: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The website is easy on the eyes and is nicely designed. The sign up process is relatively straight forward and is simple to go through, yet the activation email takes ages to get sent through and thus hinders your setup experience. I guess this is to prevent bot accounts, But everything from this point is brilliant – the graphics, the website layout, the fresh and clean interface. Moving on…The whole website seems to run in AJAX, a smooth asynchronies website which loads things quickly and without hassle. Everything loads effortlessly, everything seems to work seamlessly with everything else – it’s a pleasure to navigate through. There are little things you have to keep your eye out for such as the little bits of humour and bits which really add to the experience. Creating the actual postcard itself is easy to use, swish, and has a whole load of tools with drag and drop funtionality work brilliantly. You can add a variety of media such as pictures, text, a banner or clip art, even video to your postcard; my friends are away in Quebec at the moment and they’ve sent me a beautiful video of them around the city, and this really adds to the experience of postcards.
You can do pretty much anything in your postcard – it’s so dynamic and easy to use, even the most novice of users could use it with little or no problem. It’s fair to say this website hasn’t been completely polished off – with a few links here and there which look a bit out of place, and a mixture of rich-text and HTML style text, but that’s only a small amount of the whole experience. You can save, share, delete and publish your postcards, and being careful of kids as well, you can also view and report abuse on other people’s postcards if they are not of a fitting nature to people.
There is a social networking element added. Profile creation is easy on the Zimos home page, latest public and feaured postcards are displayed. Popular and new members are shown too. The postcards are tagged so you can browse them via tags as well. You can explore new postcards and also comment on them, Comments are in the form of spots. You can leave spots anywhere on the postcard with emotional icons. They can be hidden. You can also reply to postcards with a ‘Add to Trail’ function.
So that is Zimos for you, a new way of creating you own content on the fly and sending it to your friends easily or sharing it with friends made though Zimos, oh wait are they called Zimozians?
Zimos opened in beta around Mid-Feb and currently have 50 - 70K+ views/ month.

Registry key.
-
While running a copy of Windows Vista that hasn’t yet been activated, click the Start button, type regedit into the Search box, then press Enter to launch the Registry Editor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Explore down to the following Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ SL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Right-click the Registry key named SkipRearm and click Edit. The default is a DWORD (a double word or 4 bytes) with a hex value of 00000000. Change this value to any positive integer, such as 00000001, save the change, and close the Registry Editor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Start a command prompt with administrative rights. The fastest way to do this is to click the Start button, enter cmd in the Search box, then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. If you’re asked for a network username and password, provide the ones that log you into your domain. You may be asked to approve a User Account Control prompt and to provide an administrator password. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Type one of the following two commands and press Enter: 5.1: slmgr -rearm or 5.2: rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows Either command uses Vista’s built-in Software Licensing Manager (SLMGR) to push the activation deadline out to 30 days after the command is run. Changing SkipRearm from 0 to 1 allows SLMGR to do this an indefinite number of times. Running either command initializes the value of SkipRearm back to 0. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Reboot the PC to make the postponement take effect. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
To extend the activation deadline of Vista indefinitely, repeat steps 1 through 6 as necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our inspiration was a letter from reader Rachel Hurley (right), of Perth, Australia, who is moving back to these shores with her husband John and their young daughter. “Has anything changed?” Rachel asked, innocently enough. On the one hand, there have been seismic, and obvious, political changes, on the other, some rather predictable and prosaic ones.
But the Magazine Monitor, the BBC News weblog, asked readers to tune into the more nuanced differences; the subtle, but significant, changes to have crept up on us in the past decade.

A normal 30GB iPod selling for $1,525? Diamonds not included!
“This iPod is brand new, the box has been opened but the iPod has not been unwrapped from the plastic or turned on, and all accessories are included and unopened. This is a brand new iPod Video 30GB (not refurbished or second) .”
Picking up the story from TechEBlog, I decided to have a look at the Auction Page. The winning bidder is leah0811. This Brit has a good positive feedback score of 92.6%. Nothing out of the oridnary you may say but if you look at the feedback history there is activity till December 2006 with good positive feedback. There is no activity or feedback in the month of Januray 2007 but by Febuary there is a lot of activity and feedback, all of which are negative.
Here are some of the negative feedbacks from the bidder’s page:
“FAKE BIDDER AVOID!!!!”
“Complete bloody scammer. Cocked up my auction by overbibdding. P*ss off.”
“Fraudulant!!! Bidded ridiculous offer and never paid and never heard from them”
This got me thinking, why would someone with a really good feedback score and history go berserk in Feb. with no activity in Jan.? I think this person’s eBay account was hacked and is now being used to place fake bids all over.

Product 7 - A secret Apple Product for $99,999.99?
I came across an item on Amazon. It cost $99,999.99 and weighs 13 pounds. There is no image of this product and they do not have it in stock right now. There is one customer review though. I think it is a hi-spec computer for designers. What do you think? Leave a comment if you know anything about this mysterious ‘Product 7′.

I’m a big fan of The Simpsons - they’ve been going for over 15 years and have over 350 episodes out - the titles have only ever changed once and they still stand today. You can tell because when it goes to Lisa playing her saxophone in the class, the purple twins look huge. But being the winter season (up in the northern hemisphere anyway), I thought I’d show this - a slightly more festive Simpsons. Watch it quick before it gets taken down by YouTube for some lame copyright restriction!

Mobile Spaces all the way..
Sending photos to your space
Several days ago we made uploading photos taken with your camera phone to Spaces more powerful. In the past you could post them only to your blog. Now you can also post photos directly to photo albums. You can do it as long as your phone allows you to send e-mail. There are two ways to set up the feature: from the PC site and from the mobile site.
If you are on the PC just go to your space (make sure that you’re signed in), go to Options, then E-mail publishing, and at the bottom of the page you’ll see a list of e-mail addresses for photo albums in your space. Each email address has the following format:
Member_name.Keyword_of_your_choice.Secret_word@spaces.live.com.
By default the keyword is a GUID, but you can change it to any string that you want. Then just add the email address to your phone’s address book and you can start sending photos to the photo albums in your space.
Another way to enable the feature is from the mobile site. Just go to http://mobile.spaces.live.com in your mobile browser, sign in and go to your space. From there, navigate to the photo album to which you want to post photos and select “E-mail publishing.” You’ll be given an e-mail address for that photo album (once again, you can change the keyword used in the email address to anything that you like).
One more note: if you want to post photos to a completely new album you can do it too. Just go to your space in the mobile browser and select the link to “Add an album”. Then save the email address generated for that photo album to your address book and you're all set.
PS. According to Telephia’s research Windows Live Spaces are #2 in the UK and #3 in the US among the sites receiving mobile-generated content.

Get some new themes for your Space! Source: The Spaces Team
We’ve been spending a lot of time lately working on making your space load faster and adding cool video features; but we know that you all LOVE new themes and customization options.
So we asked a few of the designers from Windows Live to create some new default themes for you all. AND, if you’re into basketball – there are a bunch of LeBron James themes under the sports category as part of the upcoming LeBron challenge on MSN (more on that coming soon). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------_____Themes by category, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Art: ___________________Music and entertainment: ____ · Street Graffiti__________ · Music Machine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Nature: ________________Objects: ____ · Cat Tails______________ · Ropes ____ · Garden Lawn ____ · Moon set -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Patterns: _______________Sports: ____ · Light Stream___________ · LeBron Book ____ · Tiles_________________ · LeBron Graffiti ____ · Wallpaper Stripes_______ · LeBron Hoops ___________________________ · King James ___________________________ · Slick LeBron ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Check them out below:
Note: All of these themes are available in English speaking countries now and will be available worldwide at the end of the month with the exception of the Lebron themes which are currently only available in the US.
Also, don’t forget that if you’re using the “Colors” feature to change the colors in your space (for text, links, backgrounds etc.), that your colors will be applied to the new themes when you browse through them. To see the themes without your colors, go to Customize > Colors and click the link to “Clear your settings and use the default colors” (if you don’t click Save, you won’t lose your custom colors if you decide you don’t like any of the new themes. Make sure you click Cancel!)

Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” button renamed to “Take me to Wikipedia” result button (Joke)
I am feeling lucky no more?
It is a know fact that google ranks wikipedia entries higher in it’s search results. It should therefore replace the underused ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button to ‘Take me to Wikipedia’ button and save everyone the trouble!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full width Banner code
Due to the recent spaces update (11.1) the full width banner and multiple sandboxes were not possible to enable anymore. The multiple sandbox tutorial has been updated and it is now possible to have it again.
I was just playing about with the banner code and it is now possible to have that too (again!)
Here is the code:

How do you find a Insurance company who can give you what you want at a fair price? You have concerns?
First of all, it can be expensive Second - does it give you the cover you need?
I have been searching the Internet for the solution I need and none of the ' so called' market leaders offer anything which works for me, including Endsleigh, who are owned by the NUS. You think the would understand my needs - but no, their cover is expensive and not particularly good. At STA travel it is more expensive and through my research is offered (underwritten) by Endsleigh - what a strange world!
The first thing I have understood in my search is do not buy insurance from people you book your trip with. They make a huge profit and you do not get cover you need.
Searching the Internet I came across Karma Insurance who have some refreshing solutions for Possessions Insurance for: Students, Key Workers, Professional / Working, Single Parents and Senior Citizens & Retired.
They will offer Student Travel Insurance for Gap Year, Year Study Abroad or Backpacking. Watch this space for an update.
This site is worth a serious look.
In addition the give you a FREE plastic membership card and send you all your documents into a members area, which means that they will never be lost.

Another beta goes, another one is in the works. Windows Live Messenger 8.1 has been around now for around 6 months and a few days, and now it’s time the doors were shut. There were 3,009 registered users on the beta, a total of 1,010 bugs and 456 suggestions in total spanning the 6 months the product was in beta, and the newsgroups had over 6,000 posts. That’s quite something.
There are no final prizes for testers this time round, and work on Windows Live Messenger 9.0 has already begun (there will be no more interim releases, or at least if there are, there won’t be any beta programs for it). Current testers of Windows Live Messenger 8.1 who have access to the Microsoft Connect pages will be automatically transferred to the next beta (9.0) so don’t you worry - plenty more to come.

You knew on Monday, of course, that Sony will be launching PlayStation 3 in Europe on March 23 at £425, a price that has caused some consternation among its potential user base, and not only because it is not a direct conversion of the hardware's Euro tag (€599, which in market terms translates as £395).
Certainly the £425 UK price compares unfavourably with rates in North America, where a PS3 can be purchased for the equivalent of £305. And those expecting a UK PS3 price reduction sooner rather than later will be disappointed, since the hardware is already being sold at a considerable loss, while cost reductions on components will be slow due to their complexity.
What of those hoping to buy into PS3 gaming via its stripped-down 20GB iteration, which officially retails in Japan at just ¥49,980 (£210)? This option simply will not be available to European consumers at launch, with SCEE stating that it will 'follow later in the year dependent on demand' – in other words, possibly not at all.
But the negative buzz surrounding PS3's European price is largely informed by Microsoft's decision to sell Xbox 360 at below £300. What you're not getting in a £280 Xbox 360, though, is a like-for-like feature set, something which Sony has, to date, appeared reluctant to communicate.
To bring an Xbox 360 more in line with a 60GB PS3, the shopping list reads thus:
Xbox 360................................................................................£280 HD DVD Player.....................................................................£130 Wirless Networking Adaptor................................................£_60 12 Months' Xbox Live Gold Memebership..........................£_40 Play & Charge Kit................................................................£_15 Total.......................................................................................£525
(Updated: Let's have some caveats before the comments section heats up unnecessarily: there's no suggestion that PS3's online gaming setup is currently as comprehensively featured as Xbox Live – or indeed that it ever will be – and don't forget that you'll want to purchase a better-than-composite AV lead for your PS3 (component and HDMI leads will cost £18 each); then add in a Bluetooth headset (£15) – plus two games (Amazon value: £76) and an additional joypad (£35) in order to match the content of Microsoft's £280 package deal – all of which gives an ultimate PS3 cost of £569 (bear in mind that we cannot add in the cost of an additional 40GB of hard drive space or card readers for Xbox 360, since such things do not exist.) However, take into consideration the newly mooted £500 PS3 bundle including game and additional joypad (are you keeping up?) and you’re facing £561.)
Ultimately, though, it isn't price that will hold back some from buying a PS3 at launch, but the shape of its game library at that point. Certainly PS3's debut line-up will better PS2's (whose day-one Euro range consisted of Ridge Racer V, Silent Scope, Smuggler's Run, FIFA 2001, Tekken Tag Tournament, SSX, TimeSplitters, ISS, Fantavision, Ready 2 Rumble Round 2 and Orphen), partly because it will make use of PlayStation Network to deliver games via digital download. How will it compare to Xbox 360's launch line-up? Have a look at the official game list and decide for yourself:
PS3 launch titles (retail): Resistance: Fall Of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days Of The Blade, Formula One Championship Edition, Ridge Racer 7, Call Of Duty 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Tony Hawks Project 8, Gundam - Target in Sight, Full Auto 2: Battle Lines, Sonic The Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter 5, Virtua Tennis 3, World Snooker Championship 2007, NBA 2K7, NHL 2K7, Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWll , Enchanted Arms, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, The Elder Scrolls lV: Oblivion, Def Jam: Icon, Fight Night Round 3, NBA Street 4 Homecourt 2007, Need For Speed Carbon, The Godfather: The Don's Edition, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, F.E.A.R.
PS3 launch titles (via PlayStation Network): Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, Go! Puzzle, Blast Factor, Flow, Super Rub'A'Dub, Gripshift.
