Mobile Spaces all the way..
Sending photos to your space
Several days ago we made uploading photos taken with your camera phone to Spaces more powerful. In the past you could post them only to your blog. Now you can also post photos directly to photo albums. You can do it as long as your phone allows you to send e-mail. There are two ways to set up the feature: from the PC site and from the mobile site.
If you are on the PC just go to your space (make sure that you’re signed in), go to Options, then E-mail publishing, and at the bottom of the page you’ll see a list of e-mail addresses for photo albums in your space. Each email address has the following format:
Member_name.Keyword_of_your_choice.Secret_word@spaces.live.com.
By default the keyword is a GUID, but you can change it to any string that you want. Then just add the email address to your phone’s address book and you can start sending photos to the photo albums in your space.
Another way to enable the feature is from the mobile site. Just go to http://mobile.spaces.live.com in your mobile browser, sign in and go to your space. From there, navigate to the photo album to which you want to post photos and select “E-mail publishing.” You’ll be given an e-mail address for that photo album (once again, you can change the keyword used in the email address to anything that you like).
One more note: if you want to post photos to a completely new album you can do it too. Just go to your space in the mobile browser and select the link to “Add an album”. Then save the email address generated for that photo album to your address book and you're all set.
PS. According to Telephia’s research Windows Live Spaces are #2 in the UK and #3 in the US among the sites receiving mobile-generated content.

Get some new themes for your Space! Source: The Spaces Team
We’ve been spending a lot of time lately working on making your space load faster and adding cool video features; but we know that you all LOVE new themes and customization options.
So we asked a few of the designers from Windows Live to create some new default themes for you all. AND, if you’re into basketball – there are a bunch of LeBron James themes under the sports category as part of the upcoming LeBron challenge on MSN (more on that coming soon). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------_____Themes by category, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Art: ___________________Music and entertainment: ____ · Street Graffiti__________ · Music Machine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Nature: ________________Objects: ____ · Cat Tails______________ · Ropes ____ · Garden Lawn ____ · Moon set -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Patterns: _______________Sports: ____ · Light Stream___________ · LeBron Book ____ · Tiles_________________ · LeBron Graffiti ____ · Wallpaper Stripes_______ · LeBron Hoops ___________________________ · King James ___________________________ · Slick LeBron ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _____Check them out below:
Note: All of these themes are available in English speaking countries now and will be available worldwide at the end of the month with the exception of the Lebron themes which are currently only available in the US.
Also, don’t forget that if you’re using the “Colors” feature to change the colors in your space (for text, links, backgrounds etc.), that your colors will be applied to the new themes when you browse through them. To see the themes without your colors, go to Customize > Colors and click the link to “Clear your settings and use the default colors” (if you don’t click Save, you won’t lose your custom colors if you decide you don’t like any of the new themes. Make sure you click Cancel!)

Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” button renamed to “Take me to Wikipedia” result button (Joke)
I am feeling lucky no more?
It is a know fact that google ranks wikipedia entries higher in it’s search results. It should therefore replace the underused ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button to ‘Take me to Wikipedia’ button and save everyone the trouble!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full width Banner code
Due to the recent spaces update (11.1) the full width banner and multiple sandboxes were not possible to enable anymore. The multiple sandbox tutorial has been updated and it is now possible to have it again.
I was just playing about with the banner code and it is now possible to have that too (again!)
Here is the code:

Another beta goes, another one is in the works. Windows Live Messenger 8.1 has been around now for around 6 months and a few days, and now it’s time the doors were shut. There were 3,009 registered users on the beta, a total of 1,010 bugs and 456 suggestions in total spanning the 6 months the product was in beta, and the newsgroups had over 6,000 posts. That’s quite something.
There are no final prizes for testers this time round, and work on Windows Live Messenger 9.0 has already begun (there will be no more interim releases, or at least if there are, there won’t be any beta programs for it). Current testers of Windows Live Messenger 8.1 who have access to the Microsoft Connect pages will be automatically transferred to the next beta (9.0) so don’t you worry - plenty more to come.

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve just released the latest version of Windows Live Spaces. In addition to a number of back-end updates, below are some of the new features we think will enhance your Spaces experience even more:
Videos, videos and more videos
You asked for it, we created it! We’ve built more rich media capabilities into Windows Live Spaces so it’s easier for you to display your favorite videos on Spaces. You can now embed videos directly into your Spaces blog entries. Adding a visual element to your blogs can help you tell your story.
If you prefer to display your videos in independent modules, you can now easily add the Soapbox gadget and a Universal Video Player gadget directly from within the Customize menu in Spaces. The Universal Video Player allows you to display videos that are hosted anywhere on the Internet. It’s easy to find, it’s easy to add and it’s super easy to play your favorite videos on your Space.
Be instantly notified of changes to your favorite Spaces!
It’s now even easier to find out who updated what on their Space and when…and you can be one of the first to find out! You can now sign-up to receive updates in real time for blogs, photos, lists and comments in your favorite Spaces. Simply click on the “Sign up for alerts” link in the Visitor tools module of your favorite Spaces and start receiving your updates right away. We want you to try it out and tell us what you think of alert, so we’ve limited this new functionality to English Spaces first.
We hope you enjoy these new features and look forward to receiving your feedback!

Taken from: Reporters Without Borders
Blogs get people excited. Or else they disturb and worry them. Some people distrust them. Others see them as the vanguard of a new information revolution. Because they allow and encourage ordinary people to speak up, they’re tremendous tools of freedom of expression.
Bloggers are often the only real journalists in countries where the mainstream media is censored or under pressure. Only they provide independent news, at the risk of displeasing the government and sometimes courting arrest.
Reporters Without Borders has produced this handbook to help them, with handy tips and technical advice on how to to remain anonymous and to get round censorship, by choosing the most suitable method for each situation. It also explains how to set up and make the most of a blog, to publicise it (getting it picked up efficiently by search-engines) and to establish its credibility through observing basic ethical and journalistic principles.

Custom HTML Module:
No.1
No.2
Press Ctrl+C to copy the text below:
type='checkbox' title='This is an unsupported module supplied for the purpose of evaluation.' id='CustomHTML' name='PowerToy: Custom HTML' value='CustomHTML' checked>PowerToy: Custom HTML
Click Save !
No.3
No.4
Job done!

With the Sandbox you can add any html code, that is allowed on spaces and display it on the front page. So Banners, clocks, Stat-maps, Counters, etc. All can be added.
The Custom HTML Power Toy is designed to allow you to add a sandbox module to your Space in which you can enter text, link to images, and use other HTML features. The Custom HTML Power Toy supports all of the same HTML that you can enter into a Blog entry and can be moved around your Space as a separate module, just like a list or any other Spaces module. Additionally you can control the Title of this module and whether the borders for this module are displayed or not.
Please note that this PowerToy, like the others, is available in English ONLY for now and is UNSUPPORTED.
Follow these steps to add this Power Toy to your Space:
http://cheungjacky.spaces.live.com/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1&_c=&powertoy=sandbox
-
Click the Go button next to your web browser address bar.
-
Once the page has finished reloading, click on the Customize tab in your Space.
-
In the Modules drop down menu in the Customize tab, click on the section where it says Modules and under subsection 'Others' there should be an Icon for PowerToy: Custom HTML click on it and then click the Save button.
Click on the pictures below to see how it will look like :
This module is useful in many of the tutorials I have put up on this space.
You can start by adding a slideshow. Click here to sign up for an account! In this site you would:
-
Select images from your computer or from the list on your left!
-
You would then upload the images
-
The next step is to choose what kind of slide format you prefer on you right under Customize,
-
Copy the code from the box below into the HTML Sandbox.
Tip:- You can also add many things like counters , Clocks etc. See the tuorials in the various categories on my space. if you have coding problems. Add all of this onto a blog entry, arrange the position , add the hyperlinks, change the size of your pictures, etc. Click on the button and get the code for it. Dont publish your entry. Paste that code into the sandbox and click Save.
To get two more Custom HTML Sandbox click here.
Update:- A 3rd Party HTML Sandbox gadget has been developed! It takes flash files, embed objects and almost any valid HTML code! Why not click here to get the HTML sandbox gadget! (Note : This gadget does not have the disable module border/background option and a height - width restriction may be applicable ). You can now have two HTML sandboxes. Click here to learn more..
